For the past two months I’ve been cooping myself up in my art room working away on paintings for an upcoming new gallery/museum in downtown Wilmington, NC. Opening is in May.
Expo 216 Ocean Plastic (216 N. Front St. Wilmington, NC 28401)
The theme of plastics in the ocean and the harm it does to animals goes perfectly with the paintings I love to create. I’m working on a series of miniature paintings of the ocean floor, with pieces of plastics harvested from the ocean (courtesy of Bonnie Monteleone with Plastic Ocean Project) and other plastics and recycled materials.
Coming out next month, on April 1st, 2016 is Anne Russell’s book The Mystical Magical Amazing Fantastical Gardens of Airlie. This will be a limited, numbered and signed, hardcover edition with the softcover soon to follow. Anne Russell asked me to create 15 paintings of Airlie Gardens for a poem she emailed me a little over a year ago. The book is not the same poem I illustrated but still goes along with the paintings well. We are very excited that it is finally finished and ready just in time for spring.
Alexandra, Wonderful, beautiful job!!!
